IHOP’s Flat-out Disobedience About Going

July 6, 2014

Friends,
Jesus has told us to go forth to all nations, baptizing people into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey all of His commands so that they can be His disciples. (Mt. 28:19,20) This discipleship must be explained for what it is –that it is a giving up of oneself to follow the Lord with 100% dedication. (Luke 14:25-35) This discipleship always includes f-o-l-l-o-w-i-n-g Jesus. (Mt. 4:19) It does not mean following any man, group, church, or system.

Following Jesus means following what Jesus commands through the Spirit and in the Word. (John 6:63 & 15:10) Those who have Christ’s Spirit will obey Him, including His command to take His Gospel, in the power of His Spirit, to the ends of earth. (Acts 1:8 // Rom. 8:9 // 1 John 3:24) It is a fishing for men –for disciples that will endure till the end– and it entails GO-ing. (Mt. 4:19 // John 15:16)

But… what do we have in “Christianity”? We have much talk, even much pretense of prayer; but very little going. It does take preparation, and it does take much prayer, but if the going is not part of the equation, then there is flat-out disobedience. There must be going –going out into all the world, wherever the Lord commands and leads, and in whatever manner He instructs each one of us.

But… we have whole churches, whole groups, whole doctrines that squelch the going. One of these groups is IHOP. Instructing people, especially impressionable young adults, to join them in their prayer / worship / soaking meetings, they rarely, if ever, seem to send their students out to evangelize the world about Christ’s commands. Oh, they may send their students into the community for the purpose of promoting IHOP, but they are not following Christ’s instructions to go out producing disciples for Him, and Him alone.

Do IHOP participants pray to the Lord concerning what He has told us to pray –that He “send out workers into His harvest field”? (Mt. 9:38) Maybe. But if they do, why do so few of them go themselves? Could it be because they are not listening to the Holy Spirit, but instead to evil spirits masquerading as Christ? (2 Cor. 11:14)

Israeliteindeed has written a good article comparing some more of IHOP’s teachings with those of Gnosticism. Because these cunning twists of the Truth have infiltrated themselves everywhere, we need to make ourselves as alert and informed as possible. Let’s read more, then, by clicking here: http://israeliteindeed.wordpress.com/2014/07/06/mike-bickles-bridal-paradigm-the-gnostic-bridal-chamber/

Sincerely,
with love,
Rachel
