God Repays All Deeds

December 17, 2013

Friends,
“According to what they have done, so will God, in furious judgement, repay His enemies, dispensing retribution to His adversaries.” (See Isa. 59:18) Who are these foes of the Lord’s? He describes them in Ezek. 16:49,50 as those who are:

~~arrogant

~~overfed

~~unconcerned

~~withholding help to the needy

~~haughty

~~doers of detestable things

“Therefore,” God says, “I will do away with them.” (See Ezek. 16:50) Rom. 11:22 warns of the same: “Otherwise, you also will be cut off.” Those who are cut off are people who pretend to worship God, but who, due to their arrogance, foolishly do not actually believe the Word of God enough to consistently obey it. (v. 20-22) God will not spare such disobedient branches. (v. 21 // John 15:6,10)

“If you are willing and obedient,” God says, “you will be blessed. But if you resist and rebel, you will be destroyed.” (See Isa. 1:19,20) For nothing short of absolute obedience is what God requires for acquiring eternal salvation. (1 Sam. 15:22 // Ezek. 33:12,13 // Heb. 5:9)

Yet scores of church-goers assert, “I’m safe, for I’m a temple of the Lord.” (See Jer. 7:4,10) But God declares differently. He says such people are trusting in a lie (v. 4) and that any house that bears His Name and then brings defilement in, will be thrust from His presence. (v. 14,15) God will destroy defiled temples that once housed His Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16,17) –destroy them eternally. (Rom. 6:22,23 & 8:9,13 // Gal. 6:7,8 // Heb. 6:4-6 & 10:26-31 & 12:14-17)

According to what a person does in his life, is how he will be judged by God. This is what the Word of God teaches over and over. (Jer. 17:10 // Ezek. 33:12-20 // John 5:29 // Rom. 2:7-11 // Eph. 5:5,6 // Rev. 20:11-15 // etc.) For everything will be exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (Heb. 4:13 // See also Mt. 25:14-30)

Sincerely,
with love,
Rachel
