Bestowing For Us His Splendor
December 15, 2013
Last Wednesday, the Lord bestowed across our back pasture a most beautiful sunrise. Below are five of the photos I took. Though we often get gorgeous sunrises and sunsets here, it seemed extra special after having had several days of freezing rain, sleet, and ice. I kept thanking the Lord for it, and sang to Him songs of praise. But one main passage that kept going through my mind was Ps. 19:1-4. For truly, the skies, as well as all the earth and all that is in it, are continually proclaiming God’s majesty and power.
Here is that passage: “The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies display His handiwork. Day after day they gush forth a proclamation; night after night they reveal knowledge [concerning God’s greatness]. There is no actual speech or word, nor is their voice literally heard. Yet their expressions echo throughout the earth, their words to the end of the world.”
The Lord is so very kind and loving. He is good and delights to grant good things to His children. I try to notice and appreciate every single one, though of course I know there are countless things He does for us that we are not even aware of. Like all the evil He blocks from coming our way, all the “small” blessings that are oh, so huge when we have to go without them, and just all the other kindnesses that are too many to fathom.
The Creator-God we serve and worship certainly reveals, in His gracious and glorious way, that He delights to grant to mankind a share in His beauty, charity, and splendor.
