The Immoral Inherit Futility & Darkness

December 1, 2013

Friends,
The wicked will not inherit the Kingdom of God. (1 Cor. 6:9) Most people do not consider themselves wicked. However, what people think about themselves makes no difference; what God thinks about each person is what matters. And God, in His Word, says that the wicked are those who are idolators, murderers, sorcerers, vile, drunkards, thieves, slanderers, swindlers, greedy, deceivers, unbelieving, cowardly, liars (v. 9,10 // Rev. 21:8,27), and/or sexually immoral. (same verses // Jer. 5:7-9)

In spite of the fact that most everyone would fall under one of those categories, let’s focus on that last sin. What person can, in all honesty, claim sexual purity? Few. And what about those who claim to follow Christ? Most of them, as well, have tossed aside the importance of purity.

But we are told to flee sexual immorality (1 Cor. 6:18) and to make sure that not even a hint of it is present in our lives. (Eph. 5:3) Moreover, even the appearance of evil –any kind of evil– is to be completely avoided. (1 Thes. 5:22)

Yet instead, throughout the world, and particularly in this sex-crazed nation, we have a society that thinks it is something to boast about when multiple lovers have been accumulated. We have a society who laughs as they degrade one another. We have a society that refuses to blush when inappropriate attire, speech, or conduct is put forth. While disgracing themselves and their own dignity, these individuals’ inability to recognize their distasteful condition proves their consciences have been seared (1 Tim. 4:2), their thoughts are futile (Eph. 4:17), their hearts have hardened (v. 18), and their spirits are dead. (2:1)

On they go, though, in their wickedness. Claiming to believe in God, yet refusing to honor Him and give Him thanks (Rom. 1:21), these proud and darkened “wise men” (v. 21,22) have merely shown themselves to be fools. (v. 22) –Wicked fools who will not inherit the Kingdom of God, but rather “the fiery lake of burning sulfur” (Rev. 21:8) where they will weep and gnash their teeth forever. (Mt. 13:49,50)

If only the wicked would listen to our warnings from God’s Word –and repent!

Sincerely,
with love,
Rachel
