Gathering With Christ

July 1, 2013

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” (Pr. 31:30,31)

This verse is applicable for so many people who tirelessly work in Christ’s harvest fields. One of them is a friend of mine who has served for years with Wycliffe Bible Translators (the mission my parents have also served with since 1960), doing so as a translation consultant in CAR, the Central African Republic. She sent me an email yesterday asking for prayer about the new eruption of violence and looting over the last few days, and for prayer about the Sango Bible going forth. The looters demolished the entire stock of newly-printed Bibles, but the formal dedication, scheduled for yesterday, was planning to still proceed, (and did so, we trust). Here is a link she sent that I read, along with tears, about the Swiss couple who headed the translation of this Sango Bible.

May the Lord bless them, their beautiful and loving efforts to further God’s amazing and powerful Word, and may they receive praise and honor from others, as well as from the God whom they have served. And may my friend, because of all her years too of dedication, even through loneliness and danger, receive the same.

I went on to read many more articles at Wycliffe’s website, and each was a wonderful testimony of our amazing God and how He so mightily and mercifully works. Click here to read more:

May everyone be encouraged to join in the furtherance of Christ’s Kingdom, listen intently to every new instruction, and go forward into each assignment He gives each one of us to do. For the fields, ripe and ready for harvest, need more workers. (Matt. 9:37,38 // John 4:34-38) I’m reminded of one of the verses I’ve been rehearsing all week where Jesus says, “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me, scatters.” (Luke 11:23)

with love,
