God’s Word Teaches Differently

September 22, 2012

Those who adhere to the counterfeit Christian gospel are not listening. Due to their love for sin, they have closed their ears to the plain warnings within God’s Word that say that a person must know God and walk obediently in His will in order to inherit eternal life. These followers of the counterfeit do teach that people must believe in Christ and must admit that they are sinners and ask God to forgive them for it, but they do not teach that there is anything else vitally necessary for salvation. They are so afraid of promoting “works” (meaning that there are actions we do to achieve salvation), that they twist God’s grace around so that licenses for sin are given out and belief is really only the type the demons have. (James 2:19 // Jude 1:4)

However, God’s Word tells us differently:

It says that only those who do God’s will belong to Christ and enter eternal life. (Matt. 7:21 & 12:50 // 1 John 2:17)

It says that having a faith that is not backed up by actions is incomplete, dead, and useless for salvation. (James 2:14-26)

It says that anyone who does not walk in the Truth does not have God. (2 John 1:9)

It says that the proof of being born of God is that there is not a continuation in sin. (1 John 5:18)

It says that repentance is proved by deeds. (Acts 26:20)

It says that being born of God and knowing Him is proved by constantly doing what is right. (1 John 2:29 & 3:6)

It says that in having been born of God, a person is infused with God’s nature and cannot go on sinning (1 John 3:9), and that if a person does keep sinning, he shows he instead belongs to the devil. (v. 8,10)

It says that those who will not turn away from wickedness actually delight in wickedness and that they refuse to come to the Truth and Light because they hate the Truth and Light. (John 3:19-21 & 5:40 // 2 Thes. 2:10,12 // 2 Tim. 2:19)

It says that whoever deliberately sins –even after having been sanctified (purified and set apart to be sacred)– is going back to the vomit of sin, is entangling himself again with the world, is trampling Christ underfoot, is crucifying Him again, is treating the covenant with contempt, is insulting the Spirit of grace, and is thus reaping upon himself the eternal fires of Hell. (Heb. 6:4-6 & 10:26-31 // 2 Peter 2:2–22)

It says that all who turn away to follow sin are again following Satan and have put themselves back under the wrath of God. (Rom. 6:16 & 11:20-22 // Eph. 5:5,6 // 1 Tim. 5:15 // Heb. 4:11)

It says that all who live according to the sinful nature will reap eternal death. (Rom. 8:13 // Gal. 6:7,8 // Col. 3:5,6)

It says that all who do not know God and do not obey the true Gospel will be banned from God’s presence and be punished with everlasting destruction. (2 Thes. 1:8,9)

It says that even if people claim to know God, their acts of sin actually deny Christ, and for denying Christ, Christ will deny them. (Matt. 10:33 // 2 Tim. 2:12 // Titus 1:16)

It says that all who have not acted righteously will be condemned and punished eternally along with the demons. (Matt. 13:41,42 & 24:51 & 25:41,46 // John 5:29 // Rev. 20:10-15 & 21:8)

It says that all whose deeds and love grow soiled and cold, or even lukewarm (complacent), will be spewed out of God’s mouth and favor so that their names are erased from the Book of Life. (Matt. 24:10-13 // Rev. 3:5,15,16)

It says that all who turn to a different gospel will lose their secure position in Christ and be eternally condemned. (John 15:6 // Gal. 1:6-9 // 1 Cor. 15:2 // 1 Tim. 4:1 & 6:20,21 // 2 Peter 3:17)

I could, of course, go on and on. But shouldn’t these verses be enough to convince anyone that God’s Word teaches a very different Gospel than the one being taught by most “Christians”? Wouldn’t a wise person stop listening to the majority and instead make sure he gets to know the Truth –He who is Christ Jesus, the true God and Eternal Life, and the very Word of God? (John 1:1,14 & 6:54 & 14:6 // 1 John 5:20 // Rev. 19:13) As Jesus prayed, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” (John 17:3) And: “May they be set apart and made sacred by the Truth which is Your Word.” (See v. 17)

There is no eternal life without knowing God through Christ. We must know Him intimately and He must know us intimately. Otherwise, He will deny us entrance into Heaven. (Matt. 7:21-23 & 25:1-12 // Luke 13:23-28) This knowing comes by way of our faith which is proved by our continuation in pure actions and obedient deeds. (same verses)

This is not the gospel being preached from most pulpits and platforms and stations which claim to be Christian. But it is the true Gospel –that which is found in the Word of God.

with love,
