Look! Conquest & Freedom!

July 1, 2012

Look! He rides on the clouds! (Dt. 33:26) His glory fills the heavens! His majesty lays low the arrogant of the earth –the rebels; and those who mock Him fall. (Isa. 5:9-30)

“Be exalted, O LORD God, throughout the universe!” (See Ps. 57:11 // Isa. 6:3)

Look! He rides a horse of strength, a charger ready for battle… the white horse of conquest. (Rev. 6:2) His eyes blaze like fire (19:12), “and on His head are many crowns.” (same verse) He has a name, a mysterious name, written on Him (same verse), and He looks for those on whom He can write His name (3:12), of whom He can make pillars in His temple (same verse), and to whom He can grant crowns of victory. (v. 11)

The Rider is called Faithful and True (19:11), for His name is the Word of God. (v. 13) On Him is written, “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (v. 16)

The final event speeds toward us (Isa. 5:26), for God’s people have spurned His holy commands. (v. 24,25) But they who have repented and had their blind eyes, dull ears, and calloused hearts healed (v. 9,10), boldly raise, along with the Victor, a banner –a banner proclaiming freedom. –Freedom to the captives, to all who believe, to all who will look upon Him in faith, be cleansed and made new, and ride with Him. (Isa. 61:1-4 // John 3:14 // Matt. 11:12 // Rev. 19:14)

Therefore, He has made our feet beautiful upon the mountains (Isa. 52:7 // Rom. 10:15), as, with our banners raised, we shout out, “Here is your God!” (Isa. 40:9) And the watchmen joyfully shout back, “Our God reigns!” (See 52:7,8)

For, look! He rides out, “bent on conquest.” (Rev. 6:2)

with love,
